Non-fiction, despite being often less fun than fiction, is the real meat of serious growth. And it doesn’t always have to be less fun than fiction. Some writers are gifted at showing the real joy and delight of their subject. Others just like to hear themselves talk (*cough* “Chesterton!” *cough*)

This list is broken up into subject, but that isn’t very easy to do. Most of them come from the two bookshelves in my room that I call collectively “Eudaimonia.” This is the Greek word for living the good life, a life of excellence lived to the fullest. Since nearly anything can fall into that category, I’ve had to break up the list based on my overall assessment of what the book was about. Sometimes this was easy. Sometimes it was not.
